i do not know a single vegetarian that could run a mile.  i have never met a vegetarian athlete.  there are many valid arguments for vegetarianism but this is not one of them.

I couldn’t be arsed reading all of ^ that because I really don’t have the time, and I’m also a vegetarian for my own reasons… However Chris, I run. I run daily. I run 10km 3 times a week and 5 every other day. I also cycle everywhere and do my best to stay healthy. Sure, I’m not winning any marathons and I don’t work my upper body for shit, but hell, I run. I run miles.

Wow, that’s great!  I had no idea you were so fit.  I retract my earlier statement about not knowing any.  You are the fittest vegetarian I know!

These guys are also pretty good at sport.

For the record I was probably around my fittest when I was strictly vegetarian.

Cool!  Would you say that’s correlation or causality?  As in, you were fit because you were taking care of yourself and vegetarianism was part of that, or that being a vegetarian helped you to be fit?

A bit of both I guess.  I was more health conscious in general, but being vegetarian meant that (as the article points out) I was consuming less fat, which made me lose excess body fat faster, which made exercising and getting fitter easier.
